Who we are

We are a community of people who want to, and do see, God working in our lives and the lives of those around us. We are figuring out how to be a multi-generational, multi-cutlural church in Aotearoa, New Zealand.  We meet at the school hall in the beach side community of Wainui.

History

Out of a desire to see a Christian witness maintained at Wainui Beach, Gisborne, a church was planted in early 1996. Due to increasing numbers the church relocated to Wainui Beach School Hall in the year 2000 where we presently meet.  Independent for 9 years, WBC joined the LinkNZ Network of Churches in 2005.  Senior Leaders Carl and Sharlene Pilkinton were appointed in January 2012. They moved here from Porirua with their three children.  WBC has steadily grown.  With the growth has come the anticipation of new wine and new wine skins.  Currently, in a short season of being independent once more, we eagerly anticipate fresh direction and leading into a new church network from 2019 forward.

Upcoming Events Dec/Jan 2020

Dec 1st: WBC Whanau Christmas Service. Bring the family and the neighbours as we celebrate Jesus' birth together
Dec 8th: Leavers' Service, celebrating the families leaving WBC & the region. BYO Picnic to follow.
Dec 15th: Child Dedication Service: Today two WBC families make promises to raise their children in God's ways.
Dec 22nd: Communion Christmas Service. Final Service for 2019
Jan 5th: No Service at WBC. Fellowship Event - see the WBC FB pg for details

Jan 19th: 9.30am cuppa followed by 10am Service. Summer Fun Event to follow

SAFETY NOTICES

MUMS & BUBS SAFE SPACE
Please help us to keep the blue mat area, rear of the hall, as a safe space for mums & bubs under 2yrs only.
Under 5s: Parent helpers please check outdoor playground equipment is securely in place. Children under 5 years only at the playcenter.

EARTHQUAKE, TSUNAMI, FIRE
In the event of the above the protocol is:
Fire: Follow the exits. Assemble in the car park.
Earthquake: “Turtles” or take cover under seats
Tsunami: “Long and Slow – Up You Go”. Once the quake subsides we head up past room 5, toward the hills - collecting your children enroute.

OTHER SAFETY STUFF

  1. Beware Bee Hives en route to creche.
  2. The gym cupboard is unsafe. No playing inside it.
  3. Keep alert re kids in the car park.
